growing in my garden...

The garden in June
I love gardening. Its relaxing. The planting, the weeding (though I almost never actually have weeds), the education, the picking, the cooking, the canning.. the butterflies. I really just enjoy it.

This year I'm growing in my garden: Carrots, Tomatoes (23 plants), Green peppers (4 plants), chili peppers (4), jalapenos (4), cayenne peppers (4), lettuce, peas (several plants), onions (red and yellow), raspberries (will fruit next year), blueberries (will fruit next year), dill, and I've harvested 2 rows of radishes already. I planted beets twice, however they did not come up either time. And kids.

Yep. I'm growing kids in my garden. Everyday I have 2 gorgeous, inquisitive little kids in my garden. Asking questions, pointing out the growing foods, picking their own tomatoes and peas. Not only are they enjoying the gardening but they have asked how we will use the tomatoes, the peppers, the carrots. The peas will never make it to the table, as they rarely make it out of the garden itself. Kendlee is keeping an eye on her raspberry plant, as it has grown immensly this year. Slade likes to keep my garden well watered, most often with sand. :)

I hope to expand our little garden a bit next year. We are in the process (very SLOW process) of building a strawberry planter (we planted strawberries 2 years in a row and they died). I had thought it would be cool to make a kids' section, for just the kids to maintain.. but after some speculation I don't think thats necessary. They're doing the maintaining with me, already!

(July)
This is probably my 5th picking of veggies from our garden. I've picked several (about 20 or more) jalapenos, a couple onions, about 6 green peppers, lots of peas, many many cherry tomatoes (which are always eaten on site) and of course ALOT of radishes and lettuce.

ADDED: Slade just snuck a tomato out of the bucket, licked it and said, "mmmm LICIOUS! DEEELICIOUS!"
